Joining my multiplayer sessions...

So since I've had several requests lately from people here and on youtube about joining my multiplayer sessions, I'm going to run passworded ones from now on and give you the password here. I'll post it permanently on the sidebar to the right as well. Please read this entire post before joining though.

My sessions will still be called "Rafale21 VFR" since that's what the regulars are used to, and the password will be: lotus (lower case). The sessions are always in the free-flight lobby when I'm online, well, when gamespy is working anyway.

I'd love to leave my sessions wide open as I enjoy meeting new people, but ever since Acceleration came out it's just been a disaster every time I do. For some reason the only thing most kids know how to do in FSX is jump in an F-18 and spend an hour buzzing my head. It really gets old. ;) Going with passworded sessions will circumvent the 'friends only' issue as I know it can be difficult to locate my name in the lobby if trying to private message me. Anyway you will need SP2 or Acceleration to join my sessions, and *please please please* have a microphone, I really don't enjoy typing while flying, and often just don't have enough free brain cells for it haha.

For those who haven't flown with me before, I have no rules in my sessions other than politeness to others, in both verbal comms and in flying style, which means flying into others or being a pest won't be tolerated. I'm an anarchist in the strictest sense of the term which means I absolutely hate rules, but those are two I have to keep for everyone's enjoyment. ;) Also, note that if you bring an airliner in you should be prepared to be poked, prodded, and generally made fun of for doing so. ;) You'll mostly find us flying fighters, warbirds, general aviation, or helicopters. I used to be quite into running ATC, and I may yet again one day for kicks, but formation flying is most often what you'll find us doing.

Honestly our non-filming sessions aren't uber-exciting since most of my friends and I play FSX simply to unwind, relax, cruise around and see some pretty sights, but we do have some great and often highly philosophical discussions along the way. Either that or we just blab about meaningless crap, depending on how many bottles of Stella are involved. :)

As a final note, all of our flying group's members are adults, so if you're under 18 our sessions are really not for you. Our discussions enroute can end up on mature topics and that's a freedom I will be maintaining in my sessions. That means that with few exceptions anyone under 18 years old will likely be asked to leave. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Anyway, if you'd like to fly along with my friends and I (and you're over 18 haha) then please feel free to pop in and say hi if you see my session up. Please also let me know your Youtube name if you've left any comments on my films, so I can put two and two together. I don't expect the password to change unless the aforementioned screaming 10 year olds in F-18s start showing up. :)

Cheers, and hope to see you in the skies!

Hehe, i also wonder how long it will take for the "aforementioned screaming 10 year olds," to show up. I can just hope that the mature attitude will still be present in your session as i mostly only see a lot of callow people on gamespy. Well, i think i have droned on long enough
cheers

Well if they do show up and cause trouble I'll just kick them, but I hope it won't come to that. :)

As the Rev. Lovejoy says on The Simpsons, "rock and/or roll" :)

Wow, some really nice screen shots there. How do you get rid of the red lettering on the aircraft in MP? And, how do you like the latest version of TrackIR? Mine will not work with FSX, unfortunately.

Lotus / Ramasurinen said...

Hmm, there's a new driver for Track-ir? Hadn't looked in quite awhile. Mine works just fine, and I absolutely love it, so not sure what's up with that. You're using a 4 pro?

As for the screenshots, thanks. I have about 1000 of them sitting around, so I'll add more over time hehe. You can toggle the red name tags on and off by hitting ctrl-shift-L.

Well, it's the old TrackIR2, I guess I'm going to have to break down and fork over the $$ for a new one because it ain't nearly as much fun without it.

Ahh, yup, only the 3 and 4 are supported in FSX, but it's worth it. The 4 is a lot more precise and of couse the 6 dof is great. Worth the money x10. :) Definitely get the track-clip with it, much easier than wearing a hat, and you get to look like a borg. Not sure if that's a plus or minus.

hehe, plus for lotus I geuss. jk, but I just changed my mind, I think I will get trackIR. but first...the x52

Damn Time - Just thought "Oh cool flying with lotus - nice"
But there's a little think called PST that makes it impossible to join.
I'm from Germany, so when you'll start your server, here it will be 3 o'clock in the morning. -.-
Well - maybe i'll just stop sleeping. ;)

Hey Impactzone, yeah that is a problem. I don't have many regular visitors from the UK or mainland Europe. However you'll often find at least me (my other friends actually sleep) on quite late friday/sat nights. If you're up and flying in the morning I might be online. Cheers.

Oh look... it's 2am again... ugh...thunk...

Mugar, I'd still go with the Track-ir first. Really, it adds a lot. Getting a joystick first is just replacing what you have something a little bit nicer. A track-ir is a much bigger immersion booster. My 2 cents (or $200 in this case). ;)

If thats not an appeal to stand up early ;D

actually lotus,
I somehow convinced a friend of mine to play this game. Which is really hard to do, I had to show him some stills and movies to convince him hehe. Only thing stopping him is a joystick, he's strict on money so I'm gonna give him mine, then replace it with the x52...he's still waiting on it today.

Lotus / Ramasurinen said...

Mugar that's pretty nice of you, and yeah, understood. Not going far without a joystick, track-ir or not hehe.

Any chance u can post ur IP? Just find a lil easier that way...

But Lotus I've been making those videos of mine (most) w/o a joystick. Do you think getting one *again* might help? x.x

Man being 14 sucks sometimes! lol Most people online think that people my age only get into FS and go bananas with the joystick lol.
I'll join your sessions, but I'll leave if you ask me. ;)
Ah, well I'll see ya' around Lotus. :)

'Most people online think that people my age only get into FS and go bananas with the joystick'

Only if your american ;)

haha

I am. What does that have anything to do with it? Most people that I've seen be stupid have an English accent. Do I really care about that? No. It's the fact that 'older' people think people my age, not from America, or England, or where the hell ever, just go to multiplayer to fly through people and just go crazy. That's true, but I'm not like them. ;) I actually have a passion to become a pilot, and enjoy crusing. I do practice acrobatics sometimes, but that's not my kind of flying. I do have my times where I go to some random airport and go high speed low altitude, and go crazy with the joystick.
You know it's people like you, Anonymous, that piss me off. Don't get nationality involved.
Sorry for the rant but I take offense to sayings like that, unless I'm friends with them.

'That's true, but I'm not like them.'

'I do have my times where I go to some random airport and go high speed low altitude, and go crazy with the joystick.'

Oh dear we have a hypocrite!

Please calm down and im not going to reply because to cause any further arguement is hypocricy to this whole topic!

thank you.

Fyi im 15 but at least my scrotum doesnt suffer from altitude sickness ;)

Sorry for the disturbance Lotus

You took that out of context. I said that yes sometimes I do go crazy, but NOT on multiplayer. I do that after a tough day at school, because I feel like letting off steam, but mostly I do VFR in a nice single or twin engine prop.
I'll drop the subject.

P.S. Lotus: I like Adversary II ;) David got owned. lol

Anonymous, Fighter25 was not being hypocritical. He would have been hypocritical had he been guilty of flying into people and then turning around and criticizing someone else for doing the same thing.

I have flown with Fighter25 on at least four occasions and in everyone, I have been impressed with his demeanor, his flying skills and, for his age, a professional attitude.

Anonymous said...

Ok, fair enough.
I concede defeat, I am wrong but how boutan arguments post for people who have too much time on their hands....

wouldnt be a bad idea.

So I must say sorry fighter25.

Anonymous I'm sorry too. This arguement has been blown out of proportions. I took too much offence(way too much)to 'only if your an American' I overreacted in my following posts. I should have dropped the subject before I posted.

Wow... umm. Okay then. Well I'm glad you got your disagreement sorted out haha. Not to worry, everyone gets ticked now and then, I have quite a temper myself haha. Ususally shows itself after someone asks 'wutz da song?' on one of my videos. ;)

As for the sessions, as I said you're welcome to pop in and say hello if you'd like to, and we do have one *very* mature 15 year old who flies with us regularly, but I do want to keep the sessions mature, and generally that means adult is all. My disclaimer is so that there's hopefully no offense taken should someone under 18 be asked to leave, that's all.

As for your argument, in my experience every nation has its fair share of amazing people and utter morons. I doubt any single country has an advantage in either department haha.

Cheers Dougie and it was nice to meet you. A pretty mild flight by the standards of my sessions, but I was in a chill mood haha. Sucks about the time zones but hope to see you on again.

Cheers,
